Extension rings are a type of connection hardware used to connect two U-shackles or to cooperate with other common connection hardware, such as Z-type clevis plates, to finally be connected to the tower and the insulator. The common specifications of extension rings are PH-0780 and PH-10100. Its nominal breaking load is 70–100 kN. Extension rings are usually made of the metal material Q235 carbon steel, which has high strength and wear resistance. Since the environment in which extension rings are used is usually overhead lines of electric poles, in order to enable them to cope with various natural environments, the processing technology adopts hot forging, and the surface treatment is hot-dip galvanizing. Such a production process can greatly increase the service life of the product and ensure the stable operation of the power system.
